01. WHERE IT STARTED

THE ORIGIN STORY

It started age 15 on holiday in Wales, when my Dad handed me his Nikon FE SLR film camera.

I was transfixed by the magic of pausing to manually focus this little black box with silver finishings, and click – an image is created. The first picture I ever took on this camera was of my brother. I don’t think I took it off my neck the rest of the holiday. Receiving images back from the lab was a magic that digital can’t create. And so, I was in love with the art of creating.

02. The moment that changed everything

After studying cinematography and film photography at university, I worked at the BBC for a short time on a children’s television show. I knew then, that I didn’t feel the same passion for camera operating in a studio environment as I did for stills work with people in their own environment.

Seeing my wedding pictures (1st marriage, oops) didn’t leave me feel like I was reliving the moment, versus seeing the candid guest pictures of a dear friend, Andy

I learned that I didn’t want to be the formal photographer asking people to stand there, hold yourself this way, look here, and click.

03. WHICH BRINGS US UP TO DATE

So, if life is wild and precious and love holds that all together, how do I capture that for you to hold onto for generations to come? By looking for those moments in your day that you miss, the touches, the glances, the laughter and joy, the life in your day. I see my role as one of social historian, helping you mould a story that will live on through your life and for generations to come.
